Announcement! Big Changes Coming to 2026 Championship Contest

Now that a brand new season of Music Listening Contest is upon us, we have some exciting news to share with contest participants and supporters.

The 2026 MLC Championship Contest is officially on the schedule for the Minnesota Music Educators Association (MMEA) Midwinter Convention! This means that on Thursday, February 12th, 2026, at the Minneapolis Convention Center, MLC participants will have a great opportunity to showcase their impressive listening skills and classical music knowledge in front of music educators and spectators from all around Minnesota!

With a projected MMEA Convention attendance of nearly 10,000 educators, students, parents, and friends over three days, we’re excited by the potential to introduce MLC to an incredible number of new faces. In addition to the Championship itself, MLC will sponsor a session room during the convention, and have a dedicated booth in the Exhibit Hall for visitors to come chat and get to know us!

For students who might be participating in the MMEA All-State Ensembles, the Championship was scheduled to avoid any rehearsal or concert conflicts.
